In this blog, we will tell you a little about a recent surprise proposal we had the honor to be apart of. Our team was called in to partner with one of our favorite vendors, The Charming Picnic, to capture a romantic, private, and luxurious proposal at Surf & Sand Resort. A huge shoutout to The Charming Picnic for a stunning surprise proposal set up. And of course, a big thanks to Surf and Sand Resort, an award-winning oceanfront icon of Laguna Beach, for having us at your luxurious and magical oceanfront escape. We love capturing some of life's most special moments, and this one was truly heartwarming to witness. Meet Maurice and Larrae, a lovely couple who got engaged such a romantic way. Thank you Maurice for having us document this special surprise proposal.

Here's how it all went down:

Once upon a time, Maurice told Larrae they would be visiting the beautiful Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach for his "office party", but little did she know that he had a different plan in mind. Maurice had secretly booked his own private luxury beachfront hotel room, asked The Charming Picnic to help decorate it, and Paper Birch Collective (us) to document the big moment. The room was beautifully covered with deep red roses petals all over the floor, their favorite photos hung from the ceiling, candles were lit, and of course, champagne to celebrate. It was exciting to hide in the room as we waited for them to arrive, but even more thrilling to witness love and joy in this special moment.

As the two finally stepped into the hotel room, they were greeted not by colleagues in business attire, but by a breathtaking view of the ocean with the most romantic and thoughtful decor that lead to a big surprise written on the floor: “MARRY ME”. In this private oasis, time stood still, Maurice got down on one knee and he asked for Larrae's hand in marriage. It was such an heartwarming and intimate moment. You can feel their love echo even louder than the waves beyond the balcony.

Larrae was so surprised and filled with pure joy. She said "YES!" without hesitation. They hugged and kissed, and we came out of our hiding spot to congratulate them and to capture more photos.

As a photographer, capturing this raw emotion and profound love is what we live for.
